Hastreiters Medal In Erie County Fair Digital Photo Shootout

40 preregistered exhibitors were given two hours to go out to the Fairgrounds and take their best digital pictures of a subject that they drew from a hat.  Patty took 1st place in the “Food” category for her photo of Italian sausage with peppers and onions cooking on the grill – what no tofu?  Joe took second place in the “Animal” category with a photo of a sheep – I’m not going to touch that one!  Patty also won 1st, 2nd and an honorable mention for photos that she submitted for the traditional photo contest.  Great job guys!

September 25th 1st Annual 5K Road Race

Dear Striders,

Hello to all. My church-the Buffalo Covenant Church, located at 786 Kenmore Avenue, Buffalo, New York  is hosting a first annual 5K road race on September 25th at 11am called the Trooper Jill Mattice Memorial 5K Pump and Run. The race’s website is http://jillmatticememorialrun.com/Home_Page.html. Trooper Jill Mattice was killed when her patrol car collided with a trator trailer on Route 23 in the town of Morris, Otsego County. She had just left the school where she was employed as a school resource officer when the crash occurred. Jill was deeply loved by those she served and changed the lives of many children. Please help build her legacy by running or volunteering as part of our awesome and always going strong running community. Thank you very much.

Striders enjoying the Niagara Wine Tour

Since we already started talking about our annual awards banquet and our winter picnic, I didn’t feel that it was too early to start thinking about another Wine Tasting Outing in the Fall.  Sue Hitchcock provided this great pic from last years event.  Frankly, I’d be happy to stay at Becker Farms for an afternoon!  Any thoughts?  Below is info on the Harvest Fest at the Niagara Wine Trail.
